PHONOGRAPHS

In November 2006, the India Social Forum took place in Delhi at the same time as the SONIC ARTS residency at Khoj.
I made the two source recordings on November 13th. Here's one. Then I made an edited remix of that on November 17.

Orange Sorting Machine (Raw) (2002) Recorded in Miyaura, Miyazaki, Japan.

NOISES

Shortwave Noise, Delhi (2004)

FAILURES

In 2001 and 2002, I spent my Decembers picking oranges in the village of Miyaura, in Miyazaki Prefecture, Kyushu.
One night in 2002, a shinto priest from Udo-jingu was nice enough to come over to the Saito house to explain the origins of Shinto ritual music to Marcus and Atsuko and Seya and Mika and Thai and me (and the Saito kids.) I recorded his playing on my MD recorder, but when I got home to America and dubbed the MDs to computer, the MD failed to read one track - the one where the priest plays the instrument that represents the sound of the sun.
I worked on a video, about a day in the life of the village during the orange season... I failed to complete the video but did make several sections. The video ended in darkness, with just the sound of this track --> Inside Orangemountain, there is no sound of the sun. (2003)

Shayla Failing #2 (2000) Scratched Shayla Styles DVD failing on Apple G3. (I used the noise from this on a number of tapes.)
